Masjid Bilal has a long a rich past that embodies the American Muslim Community’s in the west end of the city, struggle and triumph to find a place to belong. It culminates as an Islamic Center that has become more than a place of worship but an Institution and a beacon for Islam in Louisville downtown area and west end. The mosque was largely financed by dedicated Islamic worshipers some of whom pledged their homes as collateral to support the mosque. A year later, the mosque, which only had a prayer room, lecture hall, kitchen, and office space opened. The Masjid is renowned for its wide range of religious, educational, and public Bilal Schools. It has long been recognized as one of Louisville’s most vibrant and influential Muslim entities. Masjid Bilal continues to be a pillar of cultural understanding of the pious religion of Islam..
